The answers are all around us

Recently I had an opportunity to cross path with a dear friend whom I have not spoken with for a couple of years. From our conversation we realized that we often thought about each other, and although it has been awhile, we were able to just picked up where we left off.

My Progressive and Spiritual mom Elsa Mae, once told me that true love and true friendship last a lifetime. If we truly pay attention to the people we meet and the people who come into our lives, we will find they are there for a reason. Some people are in our lives for just a short stay, some for a season, and some for a lifetime.

When people come into our lives for just a short stay, it is usually to meet our current immediate need. They have come to be with us to provide support, fellowship, and guidance to assist us in overcoming our current life’s challenges and crises.

Having our prayers answered, we see their arrival as a Godsend; however, their stay is short. When our needs and desires have been met and fulfilled, and their presence is no longer needed, their departure is as sudden as their appearance in our lives. As thankful as we are for this brief encounter, we, too, should be ready to move on.

For those who come for a season, the time we spend with them engages us and exposes us to something new and different. Although their presence bring about some fun and thrilling times as they bring experiences of joy, peace, and laughter into our lives, these sharing, growth, and learning moments are only for a season.

Then, there are people who come into our lives to teach us lifelong lessons. When we embrace these special relationships and the infinite wisdom they offer, we can better ourselves in all areas of our lives. The lessons learned will enable us to build solid foundations for our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, which lasts a lifetime.
